Mary was born on February 4, 1977 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Since Mary was a child she has shown artistic abilities, painting and drawing from a very young age. Looking to utilize her Artistic abilities she sought a job with local company, Signs By Tomorrow, as a Designer. Turning 26 she decided it was time to go back to school full time. Attending the Kansas City Art Institute she pursued a degree in Graphic Design, however, painting was her passion. After graduation she moved back to Jefferson City with her husband and resumed work at Signs By Tomorrow.
Mary realized the education in Design provided her the tools needed to take her Artist Abilities to new a level; she began to experiment with new mediums to express herself. Painting became a hobby of passion, Mary soon found that she really enjoyed her time painting and would lose herself in her work. However, a little self-conscious about her work she kept mostly to herself, only displaying her work to family and friends. After a couple of chance encounters with people in the local art scene, and a lot of positive feedback from other Artist, and Gallery owners Mary is finally showing her work to the world.
Mary considers herself a contemporary /fantasy artist with flair toward the abstract. Her inspiration comes from design, nature, the human figure, and artists such as Natasha Wescoat, Gustav Klimt, Picasso, Chuck Close, Franz Marc, and Kandinsky.
Aside from Painting, other hobbies include collecting art, and caring for her animals. Wherever she travels she makes an effort to visit local artistry shops and galleries, she never fails to bring something home. Mary and her husband have five dogs (two Golden Retrievers, one Boxer, and two Chihuahua’s), two cats, two birds (Cockatoo, African Grey), and finally one Short Tailed Possum.
